Saturday Sidewalk Signing with with Pat Kittelson

Join us on Saturday, Nov. 25th for a sidewalk signing with author Pat Kittleson from 11 AM - 2 PM for her book, BIXLEY BAINES AND THE THIRSTY CHICKENS.

Alarmed by the disappearance of many species of animals and climate changes and working with scientists around the world, Pat has created a series of children’s books featuring Bixley Baines – a solitary knitter, who cares deeply for protecting earth’s beautiful creatures. In this story, Bixley is contacted by Abuela from the mountains of Mexico when her chickens drink pond water after a big rainstorm. Bixley and Abuela must figure out how to clean the pond water using prickly pear cactus pads - a solution Abuela learned long ago from her Tia. Based on research by Dr. Norma Alcantar of the University of South Florida the story promotes a local solution that can be applied to global clean water concerns.

Author Pat Kittelson lives in Missoula and has written four Bixley books. Pat will be able to tell you all about these little chickens drinking contaminated water and how scientists are using cactus to clean water.

Give us a call or Stop by the store for a copy of the book.
