Join us on Saturday, November 5th, for a sidewalk signing from 11 AM to 2 PM with author Katie Kirwan for her book series The 9 Lives of Charlie the Chicken Mushroom.
The 9 Lives of Charlie the Chicken Mushroom is an adventure series written for children of all ages. Charlie's sense of adventure and mind for mischief can get him into trouble. He has a group of vegetable friends, "The Garden Gang" that help him in and out of jams. No matter what crazy, fun and foolish shenanigans take place his friends always have his back. That's what friends are for! This series is meant to introduce kids to a wide variety of vegetables and encourage them to get cooking. Each book features a kid friendly recipe showcasing a unique and tasty vegetable.
About the author: After graduating from culinary school, Katie Kirwan has spent the last 14 years in all different facets of the restaurant industry. Over the past year, she has been instructing and developing a culinary course at Emily Griffith Technical College designed to get passionate people into Denver’s best kitchens. Katie always loved to write, and during my time as a nanny she put all her passions into motion to create The 9 Lives of Charlie the Chicken Mushroom. All based on true events that happened to her, she wanted to emphasize friendship and letting your freak flag fly! Katie also wanted a way to introduce kids to more obscure vegetables and encourage them to get cooking. She partnered with Share Our Strength, a charity that educates families on the importance of healthy cooking and affordable options. Their goal is to end childhood hunger in America, and $1 from each book sold is donated to their cause.
